With a fresh three-year contract in his pocket, the Milwaukee Bucks' young guard A.J. Green can't wait to show the franchise that they made the right decision in giving him a new deal.

Although he played sparingly in his rookie season, suiting up for 35 games and averaging 4.4 points per game, the Bucks liked what they saw from the former University of Northern Iowa star and feel his presence would be beneficial for the squad over the next few seasons.

More confidence

Green said the Bucks' move to sign him up to a new contract was a huge morale booster.

"It just gives me more confidence, knowing that they trust in me and what I was able to do and how I was able to help the team last year," Green said. "That's all I'm going to try to continue to do, just help the team and play my role and do what I can."

Green's strength lies in his deadeye shooting from deep, as he connected on 41 percent of his shots from beyond the arc during his rookie campaign. He spent more time in the G League where he showcased his prolific marksmanship, averaging nearly 21 points per game and making 40 percent of his three balls.

"It's everything," Green said. "It was the goal all along, starting off last year just to work my way to this point, whether it's now or later down the line. And I'm grateful that it's now, but it's just another opportunity to continue and progress and build."

Looking to contribute

With Adrian Griffin now at the helm of the Bucks coaching staff, Green said his focus remains the same: to do whatever he can to help Milwaukee nab victories.

"It's not a fresh slate or anything, but it's a new coach, new staff and just an opportunity to make an impression, show what I can do and show how I can help the team win," Green said. "But I love what he's been doing on both sides of the floor, especially offensively."
