Although Andre Drummond doesn't play more than 13.5 minutes a game, he remains a vital piece for the Chicago Bulls. In a recent tweet, Drummond pointed out that he had committed too many fouls in the team's game against the Washington Wizards—which may have helped doom the Bulls in the 100-97 loss on Wednesday.

Too many fouls

While one can point to many factors that led to another Bulls' loss, two stats that glaringly stand out are fouls committed, and free throws attempted—the Bulls had 19 fouls and sent the Wizards to the charity stripe for 21 free throws, where they made 17 of them.

In a game that went down the wire, free throws can make an enormous difference; this proved to be the case in Chicago's loss.

Drummond, an 11-year pro, admitted his role in the fouling spree as he committed the most on the Bulls with five. Even worse, he committed that many in not even nine minutes of action, including four in a three-minute stretch in the second quarter.

Limited production

With Drummond in foul trouble, he was only able to register two rebounds and an assist. More than anything, the Bulls missed his presence in the paint, where he is a massive factor on defense. This was evident in the game as the Wizards were able to score at ease in the paint most of the time.

With Drummond riding the pine for the majority of the game, the Wizards were also able to control the glass, hauling down 52 rebounds to the Bulls' 39.

The Bulls will need more from Drummond moving forward if they are going to return to form. He’s an essential part of their success, and even if he’s not getting a lot of minutes, avoiding foul trouble and having a positive impact when on the floor is key. Let's hope Drummond takes his own advice and reduces his fouls.
