The Chicago Bulls have assigned rookie guard Dalen Terry to their G League affiliate, the Windy City Bulls. Former Arizona Wildcat was drafted by the Bulls 18th overall in the first round of this year's NBA Draft. This move will allow him to get some much-needed playing time and experience.

Terry's path to minutes

Minutes will always be hard to come by, especially for a rookie on a team with playoff expectations. That's why most of Terry's rookie season will be mostly spent learning from the sidelines. G League assignments are nothing new for rookies, as many first-year players spend time in the minor league honing their skills.

So far, the 20-year-old has seen the court in just seven of the Bulls' thirteen games this season, and it has not been pretty. Terry averages less than a point and a rebound in just three minutes of game time.

Future with the Bulls

Terry undoubtedly has a lot of potential, and the Bulls see him as someone who can develop into a solid role player. That being said, it is unlikely that we will see much of Terry this season. Even with Lonzo Ball out, the Bulls' rookie still has the likes of sophomore guard Ayo Dosunmu, veteran Goran Dragic, and reserve Coby White ahead of him in the pecking order.

Bulls head coach Billy Donovan said Terry would have his bright moments and take some lumps along the way. This was evident in the Bulls' matchup against the Raptors on Sunday, wherein Terry got to play extended minutes and tallied four points, a rebound, an assist, a steal, and a block in almost 10 minutes of playing time.

"He was fine. It's hard for him because he hasn't got consistent minutes. But he's going to play with energy and make something happen. He no question had some blown assignments. But that's normal and to be expected. I was happy he got a chance. I love his competitive spirit," Billy Donovan said.
