Dalen Terry knows what he can do to make an impact on the Chicago Bulls this season

In this story:
Dalen Terry’s road to consistent minutes is littered with obstacles. After logging in a mere 214 minutes in his rookie season with the Chicago Bulls, things don’t appear that much better for Terry entering his sophomore campaign.
Between the team acquiring a high-quality guard in Jevon Carter and the extensions given to Coby White and Ayo Dosunmu. Don't forget the presence of defensive dynamo Alex Caruso, Terry may be hard-pressed to get consistent minutes.
Terry, who was selected 18th overall in the NBA Draft last season, isn’t giving up anytime soon and is keen on carving out a spot in the rotation this coming season by doing all the little things.
Be the energy guy
The 21-year-old knows the roadblocks before him and approaches the situation with a level head. He says he’ll bank on his youthful energy to help the team whenever his number is called.
“Do all the things other people aren’t willing to do,” Terry said. “I know as a young player, especially on our team with a lot of guards and a lot of players who can do a lot of everything, we lack guys with unlimited energy and just willing to do anything. Alex Caruso, that’s what he does, but I feel like that’s a role that you can play into.”
Hope to earn an opportunity
Though sitting on the bench game in and out can be tough for any player, Terry says he learned a lot just by observing and watching the games last season. With mentorship from veteran wingman DeMar DeRozan, especially during the summer when they trained together in California, Terry is looking to take his game to the next level and earn an opportunity as a rotational player for the Bulls.
“Those 214 minutes are where I learned the most,” Terry said. “When I’m on the bench, it’s only so much that they can say. I feel like I’m never going to get tired of hearing things or tired of watching film. But once you get on that court it’s a different type of feeling.”
