A Historic Night, Donovan Mitchell Sets Cavs And NBA Record In All-Star Game
The 2023 NBA All-Star Game will be one that Donovan Mitchell never forgets. Not just because he was a part of Team Giannis who ended up winning the game, but because of the individual performance that he put on.
Mitchell ended the night setting two records in the game. One of them is a new Cleveland Cavaliers record and the other is an NBA Record.
Most Points Scored By A Cleveland Cavalier
The starting shooting guard for Team Giannis finished the night with 40 points which were the second-highest by anyone who played in the game. The only other player to score more than him was Jayson Tatum who also set an NBA record himself by dropping 55 points.
These 40 points are a significant number for the Cavs organization because this is the most amount of points that a Cleveland Cavalier has ever scored in the All-Star Game!

I honestly was shocked when I saw this considering all the greats who have played in the game representing the Cavs such as LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love, Mark Price, Austin Carr, Brad Daugherty, and the list could go on.
Even in the year that Kyrie won the All-Star Game MVP he only scored 31 points.
Michell having this record only adds to his impressive Cavaliers legacy that he's been able to create in such a short period of time.
All-Star Game Box Score History
On top of scoring 40 points and setting a new Cavs record, Mitchell also dished out 10 assists to his teammates which led him to set a new All-Star Game record as well.
He's the first player in history to finish the game with 40 or more points and 10 or more assists. Mithcell had his fingerprints all over the win!
Just because a player is in the All-Star game doesn't mean they'll get to put on the show fans expect and hope to see. That wasn't the case with Mitchell as he impressed everyone watching Sunday night.
