Cavaliers’ Darius Garland Scores 5,000th Point In Loss To Magic

With a season-high 36 points, which were also a game-high, Cavaliers point guard Darius Garland scored his 5,000th career regular season point.
According to @CavsNotes on X, the 23-year-old became the 19th player in Cleveland franchise history to score at least 5,000 points with the team.

Garland is the 19th @cavs player to reach that mark.
He is 1 of 4 players in team history with 5,000+ PTS, 500+ 3FGM and 1,500+ AST (LeBron James, Mark Price & Kyrie Irving).
Garland has also joined some elite company in Cavaliers history, becoming just the fourth player with at least 5,000 points, 1,500 assists, and 500 three-pointers made as a member of the Wine and Gold.
After entering the contest needing 35 points to reach 5,000 for his career, he now has 5,001 points in 268 regular season games.
Garland had a strong first half, scoring a game high-19 points. He shot 6-for-11 (54.5%) from the field and 1-for-3 (33.3%) from behind the arc. According to @CavsNotes on X, this was his highest-scoring half of the season.

Garland’s scoring prowess continued in the second half, as he scored a game-high 17 points in the game’s final 24 minutes. He shot 5-for-12 (41.7%) from the field and 2-for-6 (33.3%) from deep.
In addition to his season-high 36 points, the 2022 All-Star tied his season-high of six rebounds, led all players with five assists, and tallied two steals defensively, while shooting 11-for-12 (91.7%) from the free throw line.
Garland has now scored at least 22 points in three of Cleveland’s last four contests.
