The Boston Celtics signed a forward from the Minnesota Timberwolves, adding to the team's rotation amid Jayson Tatum's long road to recovery.

Josh Minott inked a a two-year, $5 million deal with the Celtics, ESPN insider Shams Charania reported.

Last season, Minott played in 46 games, averaging six minutes per game, 2.6 points, 1.0 rebounds, and 0.4 assists. He shot 32.6 percent from three and 48.9 percent from the field.

At six-foot, eight-inch forward, he provides some size and speed on the perimeter. Minott is only 22 years old — offering some upside for the Celtics to tap into.

With Tatum out for the season, Minott should get chances to play in the rotation and feature on the team.

He won't provide much offensive creation, but he should get a chance to show his 3-and-D capabilities for the team who is retooling for another title run once Tatum comes back.

Minott's signing comes after the Celtics pried away big man Luka Garza from the Wolves as well, giving another young player a chance to establish themselves as an NBA player.

Boston already lost Luke Kornet to the free agency market, and center Al Horford is reportedly looking likely to leave the organization.
