Former Grizzlies Player Reveals Bold Message from Damian Lillard

In this story:
During the latest episode of No Chill With Gilbert Arenas, former NBA star Gilbert Arenas revealed a text conversation he had with Damian Lillard following the star point guard's trade to the Milwaukee Bucks.
Arenas, who was an NBA All-Star before finishing his career with the Memphis Grizzlies, said, "We've had this conversation in the past and he texted me about an hour ago. I asked him, 'Are you happy?' and he wrote, 'I am. I think it will finally come to light that I'm one of those guys at the very top. They've discredited me for years without acknowledgment. I was never even close to even playing field with everybody else.'"
This is a bold response from Lillard, because not only is he expecting his ability to get more recognition, he's also claiming it's been discredited up until this point. While Lillard will almost certainly get more recognition now than he did in Portland, he has been highly regarded around the league throughout his career, especially relative to his accomplishments.
Making the NBA's Top-75 team, Lillard got the nod over players with several more career accolades than him. This is not to say the Trail Blazers star was not deserving, but being recognized as one of the NBA's best 75 players ever is certainly a strong piece of recognition. That said, Lillard certainly has the right to feel his abilities have not been fully appreciated, and will now have a chance to showcase them on a winning team.
