Amid the growing uncertainty regarding James' future in the Purple and Gold, this is surely a promising sign for fans. The offseason has had no shortage of drama in terms of James' basketball future, let alone his future on the team, with trade predictions, vague quotes, and just about everything in between.
Especially with the recent news that superstar Luka Doncic will be back, signing a three-year extension with the Lakers on Saturday, it appears that L.A. is firmly in win-now mode, especially with what Dončić said on social media after inking his new deal.
"I just signed my extension with the Lakers," Doncic wrote. "Excited to keep working to bring championships to LA and make Laker Nation proud. Grateful to the Lakers, my teammates and all the fans who've shown so much love since day one. This is just the beginning 💜💛."

Pelinka seems to agree given the moves he has afforded his team this offseason to try and best position the squad for a deep playoffs run after back-to-back first-round exits.
Center depth and perimeter shooting were two critical areas for the Lakers, but frontcourt pickups Deandre Ayton and Jake LaRavia seem to perfectly check off these boxes.
Throw the all-time leading scorer into the mix along with a young superstar playing his first full season with an iconic franchise and perhaps great things are on the horizon for Los Angeles.
