The Los Angeles Lakers have been the primary beneficiaries of a world-class season from star guard Luka Doncic.

Through 16 games, Doncic is averaging the most points in the NBA with 35.3, while adding 8.9 rebounds (19th in the NBA) and 8.9 assists (fourth in the NBA). Doncic's stellar play is the main reason the Lakers sit comfortably with a 15-5 record, good for the second-best in the Western Conference.

For a lot of players, the NBA is both a job and a hobby. They dedicate countless hours towards their craft, but also will sit on the couch at the end of a day off and flip on League Pass to see what's going on across the Association.

Count Doncic out of that group.

"Honestly, I'm not watching much of the NBA, I'm sorry," Doncic said when asked about his thoughts about the Toronto Raptors, the Lakers' opponent on Thursday. "I know what kind of record they have, what kind of coach they have, I love him, and I know he's making them play physical basketball."

Whether Doncic is watching the NBA in his free time clearly hasn't impacted his game. He's playing like an MVP on one of the West's top teams by record.

Doncic had a season-high nine turnovers despite scoring 38 points. His five assists were a season low.

"That was my fault," Doncic said after the game. "There's no way I can have nine turnovers in a game."

The loss came after the Lakers had built a seven-game win streak. Lakers head coach JJ Redick was clearly frustrated with his team's effort in their third game of four games.

A Gratuitous "Space Jam" Reference

"It's very simple. We talked about it before the game, to you guys and to the team. If you don't play hard against that team, you're going to get exposed," Redick said. "I don’t know. It’s a weird sort of thing. It really is. It’s like the Monstars taking over people that you’ve grown to coach and they’re not doing anything that they normally do.”

The Lakers will have to decide whether the Toon Squad shows up on Thursday, when they face the Raptors at 4:30 p.m. PT.
