Former Mavs guard Luka Doncic may have been called out by Lakers' JJ Redick

Luka Doncic has been under criticism for his fitness with the Dallas Mavericks, and that may have carried over to the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Dallas Mavericks recently saw Luka Doncic and the Los Angeles Lakers prematurely eliminated at the hands of the Minnesota Timberwolves in five games in the first round.

Despite being the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference, the Lakers struggled against the Wolves' size and only managed to grab one win against the No. 6 seed in the West.

Doncic's coach and former Mavericks guard JJ Redick had some harrowing statements to make, potentially taking a shot at Doncic, shortly after the team's elimination.

Did JJ Redick call out Luka Doncic?

"I'll start with the offseason and the work that's required in an offseason to be in championship shape," Redick said via ESPN insider Dave McMenamin.

"And we have a ways to go as a roster. And certainly, there are individuals that were in phenomenal shape. There's certainly other ones that could have been in better shape. That's where my mind goes immediately is we have to get in championship shape."

Doncic has been criticized in the past about his fitness levels, and they could have played a factor in the team's series against Minnesota. He averaged just over 30 points per game for the Lakers during the five-game series while playing at least 39 minutes in all five matchups, but it's possible that Los Angeles could have had more from the point guard it acquired earlier in the season from Dallas.

Doncic will recover during the offseason as he embarks on his first full season with the Lakers next year.
