Upcoming Tuesday marks the final day of the league's In-Season Tournament group play in which everyone will finally determine the full entrants of the eight-team knockout round in Las Vegas this December.

In terms of the Brooklyn Nets' current position in the group play, they are currently within the tight race of the East’s Group C. Amid this, Spencer Dinwiddie can only feel confident and optimistic about his team's fortune and determination to advance to the quarterfinals.

Eyes on the prize

After leading the Nets in trampling the Chicago Bulls via a historic shootout, Spencer Dinwiddie was asked about his thoughts on their current In-Season progress.

While he made it known that they do target the possibility of advancing, the veteran guard also hammered his sheer intent of bagging the big prize of $500,000 as a member of the tourney triumphant team.

"Who don't like money? Aye listen, half a million dollars, that could pay for my Rolls-Royce.”

Brooklyn’s current stand in the In-Season group play

So far, the Nets are in second place in the East's Group C with a 2-1 record. The Orlando Magic are at the top (3-1) while the Boston Celtics are still on the run as the third-ranked team with a 2-1 card as well.

What separates both the Nets and the Celtics is the point differential, in which the Nets lead by +8. The Magic, meanwhile, have a +22 lead but have no games left to play in the group play.

As such, here are all of the potential scenarios on Tuesday that will determine the Nets’ fate in the In-Season Tournament moving forward.

  • If the Celtics (playing the Chicago Bulls) and Nets (playing the Toronto Raptors) both lose on Tuesday, the Magic advance.
  • If the Celtics win and the Nets lose, the Magic also advance.
  • If the Nets win and the Celtics lose, the Nets win the group due to their tiebreaker over the Magic.
  • If the Nets and Celtics both win, we have a three-way tie that would be determined by point-differential.

Nevertheless, the Nets truly need to grab the victory as this will at least guarantee them a top-two spot. While they won't be able to advance as the group's best team, they can still enter the knockout rounds as a wild card team.
