Two West teams had failed trade attempts for Mikal Bridges
Though the Brooklyn Nets have been stiff in their unwavering commitment towards Mikal Bridges, there were still rival teams who attempted in the best ways they could acquire the star swingman.
Per Matt Moore of Action Network, the New Orleans Pelicans are reportedly "known to have made a serious offer" towards Mikal. But while there were murmurs that the Nets have obtained offers of five first-round picks from their suitors, Moore expressed skepticism in this case for the Pels.
"Two league sources said the Nets have claimed multiple offers of five first-rounders for Mikal Bridges, but I'm pretty skeptical on that front," Moore noted. "One, it might be five 'firsts' with swaps and/or heavily protected picks, and if the offer was really five firsts, why share that and then continue to say they are not interested in trading Mikal Bridges?”
No deep trade talks
There's also another team coming from the West Coast that tried to convince Brooklyn to part ways with Bridges: the Utah Jazz.
According to Moore, Utah made some inquiries of its own regarding Mikal's trade availability. But in the end, the talks didn't go beyond.
“The Jazz, sources say, called the Nets to inquire about Mikal Bridges, though they found the same impossibly high bar to clear in return.”
Nets are standing committed to Mikal
The Nets' rejection of both the Pelicans' and the Jazz’s trade interest to gain Mikal's service isn't entirely shocking. Previously, the ball club also ignored the Houston Rockets' warm interest in trading for Bridges even though the return guaranteed them the reclaiming of their future draft assets that they lost in the 2021 James Harden trade.
Brooklyn has been firm in their stand to continue competing and contending. With Bridges at their side, the franchise stands confident that the 27-year-old will continue to serve as an important piece of the grand plan that they are building.
