The Los Angeles Lakers were widely regarded as one of the favorites to land Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving, but it was the Dallas Mavericks who swooped in and got a deal done. It has been no secret that Lakers star LeBron James would prefer Irving over Russell Westbrook, who would have been included in any trade, but for now things remain unchanged in Los Angeles.

Sitting down for an interview on ESPN, James said, "Definitely disappointing. I can't sit here and say I'm not disappointed on not being able to land such a talent. Someone that I had great chemistry with, and know I got great chemistry with on the floor - that can help you win championships... But my focus has shifted now. My focus has shifted back to where it should be, and that's this club now, and what we have in the locker room."

James continued, saying, "I don't get too excited about the possibilities of things that can be. I kinda envision myself on what it can, but I don't invest all the way in until I know it's happening. And when it does not happen, l'm back, locked into the job at hand. We had an opportunity. Our names were out there, the Lakers name was out there. We had an opportunity, didn't happen and we move on and we finish the season strong."
