Chris Paul Touches on Election Day, Importance of Voting

Phoenix Suns PG Chris Paul has been fairly vocal in why people should vote and how the league made the decision to have no games on Election Day.

The NBA will not have any games tomorrow for Election Day, and Phoenix Suns PG Chris Paul says you can thank the players for that.

“I’m going to be honest with you, it’s not the league’s decision. It was a collective decision with the players. That’s something the players came up with years ago during the bubble and things like that," he said after Saturday night.

Monday will see all 30 NBA teams in action, allowing players the day off to go vote while also pushing the importance of making voices heard across the country.

"It’s not about always who did it, but the players decided that was important to make sure that voting was open for everyone around the league. So it was not just the league, not just the players, but a collective."

Paul, who leads the league in average assists per night, has been pivotal in Phoenix's early start to the season.

Now, he hopes to be crucial in encouraging fans to vote.

"Everyone a lot of times thinks their vote doesn't matter, but if you have 100, even 1,000 people who feel that way then those are votes that aren't being counted," Paul said via Phoenix's Twitter account:

Even head coach Monty Williams put his two cents in, stating, "Hopefully everybody gets out there and allows not just for their opinion, but their values to be counted."

The Suns take on the Philadelphia 76ers later tonight.
