Eric Gordon Chose Suns Over Multiple Contenders

The Phoenix Suns continued their impressive wave of free agent signings on Sunday when the team inked Eric Gordon to a two-year deal, according to multiple reports.
"Free agent Eric Gordon has agreed to a two-year deal -- including a player option -- with the Phoenix Suns, his agents, Aaron Mintz and Steven Heumann of CAA Sports, told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski on Sunday," reported ESPN.
The deal is reportedly worth $6 million over the next two seasons.
"Gordon had significant interest on the market after he was waived and was one of the top free agents remaining. He averaged 11 points and 42.3% 3-point shooting in 22 regular-season games with the Clippers, who acquired him from Houston at the February trade deadline," said ESPN.
The Athletic's Shams Charania says Gordon chose the Suns over other contenders on the market.
"Gordon had recently narrowed his choices down to Phoenix, Golden State and had even considered a reunion in Houston, sources said," said the report.
"Gordon has been on Phoenix’s wish list it seems for a while. Once upon a time, with a different front office, the Suns signed Gordon to a max offer sheet but the Hornets matched and Gordon stayed in New Orleans. More than a decade later, Gordon finally makes his way to the desert."
There was plenty of concern about the Suns heading into free agency considering their lack of spending capability - Phoenix's top four players (Kevin Durant, Bradley Beal, Devin Booker and Deandre Ayton) combined for over $160 million on the salary tax.
The Suns now have added Gordon - a player that will add even more depth and shooting to Phoenix's lineup - on top of an impressive early haul in free agency that includes Yuta Watanabe, Chimezie Metu, Keita Bates-Diop and Drew Eubanks.
