Phoenix Suns to Host Dia De Los Muertos Night

On Nov. 1 against the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Phoenix Suns will host a Dia de los Muertos night.

The Phoenix Suns have announced they will host Dia de los Muertos on Nov. 1 against the Minnesota Timberwolves in the following press release from the team:

"The Suns will celebrate Latino culture with a night dedicated to Dia de los Muertos; first 5,000 fans age 21 years and older will receive a silicone pint cup, courtesy of Hornitos® Tequila.

"Join us at Footprint Center on Tuesday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. when the Phoenix Suns take on the Minnesota Timberwolves and celebrate Dia de los Muertos or Day of the Dead presented by Hornitos® Tequila. The Mexican holiday is a joyful celebration of life and death that brings family and friends together to honor and remember their deceased loved ones.

"During Dia de los Muertos, it is tradition to build an ofrenda or altar within a private home, public place or cemetery to celebrate the lives of relatives who have passed. In honor of this tradition, the Phoenix Suns will have a pregame community altar designed by local artist Felipa Lerma. Fans are encouraged to take part in the celebration by bringing photos of their deceased loved ones and placing them on the ofrenda.

"Throughout the evening, fans will experience a night full of Dia de los Muertos-inspired festivities. Fans will have the opportunity pregame to take photos with Catrinas, who will be roaming in the pavilion. In-arena host Alicia Blanco will perform the national anthem in Spanish, the first time any professional team has done so. During halftime, Mariachi Rubor – Arizona’s finest all-female Mariachi band – will delight the crowd with one of their signature performances.

"Fans can commemorate the night with several unique souvenirs. The first 5,000 fans age 21 years and older will receive a free pint cup, courtesy of Hornitos® Tequila. The Suns Team Shop will have an “El Valle” T-shirt designed by local artist, Abomb, available for purchase as the item of the game.

"Tickets for Tuesday’s Dia de los Muertos are still available and can be purchased at Suns.com/Tix."
