OKC's Christmas Day opponent should be easier than last year.

For the second-straight season, the Oklahoma City Thunder will be a featured player in primetime NBA action.

Two seasons ago, the Thunder grinded its way to the NBA Finals, eventually winning in seven games over the Indiana Pacers to secure the first championship in franchise history. Last season, they were rewarded with the lion’s share of nationally-televised games, as well as tilts on opening night, Christmas Day and more.

On Tuesday, three games were released from the Thunder’s 2026-27 schedule, including its second-straight Christmas Day game.

Below, we’ll check in on the Thunder’s past Christmas Day games, as well as when and who they’ll be playing this upcoming season:

2010: Thunder 114, Nuggets 106

2011: Thunder 97, Magic 89

2012: Thunder 97, Heat 103

2013: Thunder 123, Knicks 94

2014: Thunder 114, Spurs 106

2015: Thunder 96, Bulls 105

2016: Thunder 112, Timberwolves 100

2017: Thunder 112, Rockets 107

2018: Thunder 109, Rockets 113

2025: Thunder 102, Spurs 117

Overall record: 6-4

The Thunder previously played nine-straight Christmas Day games dating from 2010 to 2018, featuring plenty of the league’s best players. Armed with players like Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and more, they faced off against LeBron James, Jimmy Butler and James Harden.

Through 10 games so far, OKC has a 6-4 record in total, having beat the Nuggets, Magic, Knicks, Spurs, Timberwolves and Rockets. Despite that, they’ve lost two in a row.

Last season, OKC’s Christmas Day game was apart of a back-to-back beatdown on part of the Spurs, which helped San Antonio to emerge as a real threat to OKC in the eyes of the national media. The Spurs eventually went on to beat the Thunder in a seven-game series in the Western Conference Finals.

Christmas Day 2026: OKC Thunder @ Minnesota Timberwolves — 6 p.m. CT on Dec. 25

This season, in playing the Spurs in the season-opener and Nuggets in the home-opener, the Thunder will play the Timberwolves on Christmas Day.

The matchup makes sense for a few different reasons. The Spurs will be facing off against the Knicks on Christmas Day in a Finals rematch, and Minnesota holds weight in the West given its new look.

This offseason, the Wovles have made major changes, adding LaMelo Ball to the equation and shipping out big contributors like Naz Reid, Julius Randle and more.

They aren't likely to be as fearsome as the Spurs would be for OKC, though should still present a real challenge for the Thunder, especially on the road.
