Star Player Unexpectedly Ruled OUT for 76ers vs. Warriors

The Golden State Warriors have updated their injury report vs. the Philadelphia 76ers

Not initially listed on the injury report, Golden State Warriors star Klay Thompson is a late scratch vs. the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday night due to an illness. It was announced by the Warriors about 30 minutes before tip-off that Thompson had been ruled out, and the Warriors will now start rookie Brandin Podziemski in his place.

This is a tough break for the Warriors, as they were set to use the Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins, Jonathan Kuminga, Draymond Green starting lineup that they believe has the ability to be their first consistent starting group all season. Thompson's late scratch of course alters not only Golden State's starting lineup, but their entire rotation, as now the bench unit is impacted with Podziemski sliding into the starting group.

It has been one thing after another for the Warriors this season, as their subpar play has been compounded by availability issues for key players. While it has primarily been Draymond Green who has missed time, mostly due to suspensions, the Warriors have had other key players in and out of the lineup this season.

This illness for Thompson doesn't seem like something that will keep him out very long, as he wasn't even listed on the initial injury report, but it will sideline the star guard for this matchup against the 76ers on Tuesday night.

For Philadelphia, Joel Embiid will make his return to the lineup for this game.
