Bob Myers Gets Honest About Warriors' Championship Hopes

In this story:

Entering the All-Star break at an even .500, the Golden State Warriors have looked nothing like a championship team this season. Their pedigree, as well as the success they had last season, is largely what has some still optimistic about their chances; however, they will soon have to prove their legitimacy themselves.

Speaking on 95.7 The Game's "Steiny & Guru" show, Warriors GM Bob Myers was honest about where the Warriors stand right now, saying the questions surrounding the team will soon be answered.

"Well, we're going to find out," Myers said. "I mean, it doesn't matter what I say. The team's the team now, so you hope you get healthy and find out. I just love professional sports in the playoffs because it all gets answered. This isn't some subjective Grammy awards or Oscars where you think you got screwed. If you lose, you weren't good enough. And if you win, you were."

On if this just might not be Golden State's year, Myers said, "I don't know. I mean, there's been some bumps in the road, for sure. I feel like there was some last year, although we had a good stretch to lean on that we knew and saw, and we're waiting for that this year. But every year is different, and you've got to overcome what you're got to overcome."

Finally, Myers added the ultimate reason for optimism, saying, "The special thing about this group, many of them, you don't just win four championships. There's a lot of talented players in sports. When you're able to do it that many times with the same core, there's a belief, there's a confidence."

The Warriors will have to prove themselves after the All-Star break, but for now, the trio of Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green provides a level of confidence that they can.
