In a game that was placed on national television due to the LeBron James and Steph Curry matchup, both stars will now be sidelined. The Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Lakers will face off without their two main stars, as LeBron James was recently ruled out with an ankle injury. Curry, who will not be back before the All-Star break, was ruled out well in advance.

James has been dealing with nagging injuries throughout the season, regularly being listed on the injury report as questionable. The Lakers are not in a position to rest the superstar forward for an extended period of time, but they will be cautious whenever he is less than 100% healthy.

It is unclear if this injury will force James to miss any additional time beyond this one matchup with Golden State, but it will be something to monitor for the Lakers going forward. Currently on the outside of the play-in picture, the Lakers are once again in danger of missing the play-in entirely. This is how their season ended last year, and they do not want a repeat.

With some solid moves at the trade deadline, the Lakers did get much better. It remains to be seen if that will be enough to make the playoffs, but they have certainly positioned themselves nicely to make a run over the last two months of the season.
