NBA Broadcaster Takes Surprising Shot at Steph Curry

In this story:
There has been a lot of discussion this postseason about players battling through injuries, and how that may have impacted the performances of some of the game's biggest stars. With Jimmy Butler reportedly battling through an ankle injury in the NBA Finals, the Miami Heat star shut that conversation down following Game 5, saying Miami lost and there is no excuse.
Prior to those comments from Butler, ESPN broadcaster Jeff Van Gundy joined The Dan LeBatard Show, and took an unexpected shot at Steph Curry's media coverage when speaking about Butler and other stars playing through injuries.
"It's just so funny to me in the media how certain guys, when they play well, are cut slack for whatever issues may have occurred and other guys don't get slack cut to them," Van Gundy said. "Like when Steph Curry was in the Finals, every time he missed a shot it was because of his ankle and every time he made a shot it was heroic for overcoming [his] ankle. To me, if you’re out there, you’re healthy enough. And you should be judged on your performance."
It was an interesting jab from Van Gundy, who did not mention Curry playing through injury in the 2016 Finals, which often gets ignored when that 3-1 comeback is discussed. While Curry, like all other stars, may receive slack from certain media members, there are certainly instances where his injuries are ignored as well.
