Report: Michael Vick to meet with New York Jets this weekend

Free-agent quarterback Michael Vick is scheduled to meet with the Jets this weekend, according to a source to Eliot Shorr-Parks of NJ.com.

It will be the 33-year-old's first official visit of free agency.

Writes Shorr-Parks: "And the pressure could be on the Jets to land a free agent, given a methodical and (basically) fruitless approach that has left fans impatient and critical of general manager John Idzik — while the Giants have been on a shopping spree."

Vick is reportedly seeking a starting job, and while that may not be a possibility with the Jets right now, it could become one if Geno Smith doesn't perform well in training camp or the start of the regular season.

New York will likely cut Mark Sanchez before his $2 million roster bonus is due on March 25.

Vick has thrown 128 touchdown passes and run for 36 touchdowns in 11 NFL seasons, six with the Falcons and five in Philadelphia. He also has thrown 85 interceptions, completed only 56.2 percent of his passes and lost 16 fumbles. His dual-threat playing style has made Vick a consistent injury risk, and he has played in 16 games in a season just once in his career.

Vick appeared in seven games for the Eagles last season before injuries and Nick Foles' late emergence led to his benching.

The Jets have interest in Vick in part because offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg spent four seasons as Vick's coordinator with the Eagles. 

The Bills and Raiders are also said to be interested in Vick but have yet to meet with him.
