The Indianapolis Colts have signed quarterback Stephen Morris, the team announced.
With Andrew Luck still injured, 40-year-old Matt Hasselbeck banged up and Charlie Whitehurst the only other quarterback on the roster, the Colts signed Morris to their 53-man roster from the Philadelphia Eagles’ practice squad entering their Week 16 game against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.
In a corresponding move, the Colts placed cornerback D’Joun Smith on injured reserve.
Morris has spent the entire season with the Eagles and has previously been a member of the Jaguars organization. He went undrafted out of Miami in 2014.
Hasselbeck remains projected to start against Miami, and Luck has said he would like to return in Week 17 against the Tennessee Titans.
The Colts are 6–8 and trail the 7–7 Texans with two games remaining.
