Daniel Jones Could Earn More $195 Million in New Deal, per Source

With the Giants and Daniel Jones agreeing to a new deal, his contract numbers have been revealed. The new deal is worth $160 million over four years, a source tells Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer. Jones can also make an additional $35 million in incentives. 

With the new deal in place, New York will avoid having to place the franchise tag on their quarterback and can now look to the future. Jones is now the seventh highest-paid quarterback in the NFL in average annual salary per Over The Cap, tied with Matthew Stafford and Dak Prescott. 

The Giants’ general manager, Joe Schoen, declined the quarterback’s fifth-year option last offseason and put pressure on him to prove that he was a franchise quarterback. He did just that in his first year coached by Brian Daboll, who went on to be named the NFL’s coach of the year. 

New York finished 9-7-1, made the playoffs and defeated the Vikings in the wild-card round after Jones made his turnover issues a distant memory. He was one of the most efficient quarterbacks this past season, throwing just five interceptions all year. He passed for 3,205 yards and 15 touchdowns while also showing off his ability in the ground game. He rushed for 708 yards and seven touchdowns as well.
