Giants, Daniel Jones Agree to New Contract, per Reports
The Giants and quarterback Daniel Jones have agreed to a contract extension ahead of free agency, Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post reports. The deal is a four-year contract worth $160 million with a potential additional $35 million in incentives, per SI’s Albert Breer.
Jones will be making $40 million per year, which will tie him in as the seventh highest paid quarterback in the NFL, along with Dak Prescott and Matthew Stafford.
New York drafted Jones with the sixth pick in the 2019 draft, and the quarterback has started 53 games over the last four seasons. The team chose not to pick up his fifth-year option following the ’21 season, allowing his rookie contract to expire this offseason.
In 2022, playing on an expiring contract, Jones totaled career highs with 3,205 passing yards and 708 rushing yards while leading the Giants to their first playoff appearance since ’16. It was his first season with coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen at the helm.

By signing Jones to a long-term deal, the Giants were able to use their franchise tag on running back Saquon Barkley, who was also prepared to hit free agency next week. The tag will pay out $10.1 million.
