Tyreek Hill Makes Startling Revelation About NFL Future After Dolphins Contract Ends
Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill is entering his second season with the franchise, and though there appears to be no slowing down the 29-year-old, he made a startling revelation on Wednesday.
Hill, who emerged as one of the league’s most explosive receivers with Kansas City, looks like there’s plenty left in his tank as he enters his eighth NFL season. Despite this, Hill says that he plans to retire at the end of his current contract with Miami.
“I’m going for 10,” Hill told the Totally Offensive podcast this week when asked how long he was going to play. “I’m going to finish out this contract with the Dolphins and then call it quits.”
Hill’s contract with the Dolphins runs for three more seasons through 2025, and he already has plans set for his future.
“I want to go into the business side, [coaching too] but not for long though. I want to do so many things in my life bro.”
His top priority once he’s done playing? The gaming space.
“I really want to get into the gaming space,” he said. “I really want to get huge in that and that’s kind of what I’m doing right now. I’m using my platform to create a gaming team, which isn’t launched yet. It should launch by the end of this month. I’m going to just sign different content creators, different athletes. I just been working that, talking to different sponsors.”
In his first year with Miami last season, Hill set career-highs in receptions (119) and yards (1,710) while scoring seven touchdowns as the team’s top offensive option.
At retirement, Hill would be 32 years old, which is near the end of most players’ peak production in the NFL at the skill positions. Given that Hill’s skillset is predicated on his elite speed, perhaps this isn’t the most surprising revelation.
Regardless, Hill could still certainly produce at a meaningful level into his 30s, even if he’s a step or two slower than his prime. But it doesn’t sound like Hill is willing to do that, at least not the way he sees it right now.
