Carson Wentz Working With Jon Gruden As He Weighs NFL Options

Free agent quarterback Carson Wentz remains unsigned awaiting his next NFL opportunity as the summer continues to progress. As he continues to work out and prepare for the season, he is working with former NFL coach Jon Gruden in Tampa, according to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Wentz is throwing and studying film with the intent to play this season, but is awaiting the right situation, per Schefter’s report.
The veteran quarterback played in eight games for the Commanders last season, starting in seven. He completed 62.3% of his passes for a career-low 1,755 yards and 11 touchdowns to nine interceptions. Plagued by the injury bug once again, Wentz broke the ring finger on his throwing hand in October and ceded the starting job to Taylor Heinicke.
If Wentz is signed for this upcoming season, it will be the third different team he’s played for in each of the last three seasons after spending the first five years of his career with the Eagles.
For his career, the former second-team All-Pro has completed 62.6% of his throws for 22,129 yards and 151 touchdowns to 66 interceptions.
