Browns’ Kevin Stefanski Won’t Name Starting QB for Jaguars Game
Browns coach Kevin Stefanski is refusing to say whether Joe Flacco or Dorian Thompson-Robinson will start at quarterback for Cleveland in Sunday’s game against the visiting Jaguars.
“Both guys practiced this week,” Stefanski told reporters Friday. “Both guys practiced well, but I’m not going to name a starter.”
Thompson-Robinson, a rookie fifth-round pick, cleared the concussion protocol Friday, Stefanski said, after being a limited participant in Wednesday and Thursday’s practices. Thompson-Robinson missed last week’s game against the Rams with a concussion after starting the previous two games following Deshaun Watson’s season-ending injury.
Flacco, 38, had been a free agent before he joined Cleveland’s practice squad on Nov. 20 and was elevated to the active roster last week after surpassing P.J. Walker on the depth chart. He completed 23 of 44 passes for 254 yards with two touchdown passes and an interception in last week’s loss to the Rams.
The Browns are 7–5 this season and currently hold the top wild-card spot in the AFC playoff race. Kickoff for Sunday’s game against the Jaguars (8–4) is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET in Cleveland.
