Commanders Hire 49ers Exec Adam Peters as General Manager

The Washington Commanders are hiring San Francisco 49ers executive Adam Peters as their new general manager, per multiple reports and confirmed by Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer.

Peters will determine where current general manager Martin Mayhew will fit within the organization, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network

Peters has worked in the NFL for 21 years, first with the New England Patriots as a scout and later with the Denver Broncos as an executive. He joined San Francisco in 2017 as a vice president of player personnel and was promoted to assistant general manager in 2021.

San Francisco 49ers assistant general manager Adam Peters will be named new general manager of the Washington Commanders.

The Commanders are hiring Peters to reboot their front office after they fired head coach Ron Rivera, who also played a key role in the team’s front office. Peters’s first task will be to find a head coach to replace Rivera in the coming weeks.

Washington is coming off a 4–13 season, finishing last in the NFC East, and the team currently holds the second pick in the 2024 NFL draft.
