Former Chicago Bears coach Dick Jauron dies at 74

Former Chicago Bears coach Dick Jauron passed away Saturday. He was 74 years old.

Dick Jauron, a Peoria native and the head coach of the #Bears from 1999 through 2003, has passed away. He was 74.

The NFL's Coach of the Year in 2001, he also was a HC for the #Bills. Jauron played safety in the league and was a legend at Yale.

Jauron served as the Bears' head coach from 1999-2003. He finished his tenure in Chicago with a 35-45 record and one playoff appearance.

The NFL world was saddened to learn of Jauron's death, and took to social media to express their condolences.

I covered entire Dick Jauron era as a reporter.
He wasn’t the Bears 1st choice but developed young talent.
The 2001 season was MAGICAL & that defense was the most underrated in Bears history IMO.
Playing in Champaign in 02 crushed that team.
His kindness was unmatched.
