Mike Gesicki Excited to Catch Passes From Joe Burrow: 'Something I Was Really Looking Forward to'

Gesicki signed a one-year deal with Cincinnati this week.

CINCINNATI — The Bengals officially introduced new tight end Mike Gesicki on Thursday after he signed a one-year deal with the team.

"Outside all that (player recruitment), they could have said that it was you know, the worst place in the world, but when you got number nine at quarterback, I was like, 'That is where I want to go,'" Gesicki told the media. "So that was something I was really looking forward to. Joe (Burrow) reached out whatever day it was on Tuesday or whenever it was that I agreed. Just for him to reach out and just say that he was excited and all that kind of stuff and excited to get to work and build some chemistry. So, I appreciated that and I'm really looking forward to it. There's not many, if any guy, that can do what he does with a football so definitely going to be a great opportunity for not only myself but everybody in that locker room.

Gesicki noted he can fill a slot receiver role and mix in as another in-line tight end as well. It's up to Zac Taylor and the rest of his reshaped offensive staff to find the best spots for him on Sundays.

He also takes a lot of pride in contested catches, which should fit like a glove with Joe Burrow's willingness to make tight throws. We'll see if Gesicki can cash in with a great season like Hayden Hurst and C.J. Uzomah before.
