Jonah Williams Discusses First Game Action at Right Tackle: 'Pretty Happy' With Opening Performance

In this story:
CINCINNATI — New Bengals right tackle Jonah Williams discussed his first game experience at the position following practice on Sunday.
Williams played 11 snaps on the right side in Cincinnati's 13-13 tie against Atlanta this past Friday, tallying a 55.5 overall PFF Grade (73.3 pass block, 49.2 run block).
"Always have to clean up every time you play, but I was pretty happy with it and got some jitters out of the way," Williams said in the locker room. "First game done."
It was just the second season Williams has played in a preseason game during his career. He tallied 20 snaps across three games in 2021.
"I think so because it's really more of a mental thing," Williams said about Friday being enough playing time ahead of the regular season. "I get good full-speed reps out there every single day of practice at right tackle. It's just coming out into the stadium feeling sort of that atmosphere, the warm-up, dressing out, getting taped all the sort of like mental things and just feeling out the other side. So I was glad to have done it. And, you know, I feel better now going into the season."
Williams has earned rave reviews in his transition to the final open role on the Bengals offensive line. A group that has a higher ceiling than any Cincinnati protection unit since 2015.
