Zac Taylor on Jonah Williams' Position Change: 'Looks Natural' at Right Tackle

In this story:
CINCINNATI — Jonah Williams is the favorite to be the Bengals starting right tackle in 2023 based on talent and prior play. Zac Taylor had some nice praise for the Bengals' left tackle turned right tackle on Friday.
Taylor isn't noticing a big learning curve for Williams as he carries out the position change.
"I don't think you would've known that," Taylor said about Williams' play early on during the switch to right tackle. "If you didn't know his background and you were just showing up and just saw him at right tackle. He looks natural, he's done a great job playing that. You wouldn't have noticed 'Man this guy hasn't played right tackle in a long time.' He's done a good job, hit the ground running there."
Williams last played right tackle as a freshman at Alabama. He was solid posting a 76.2 overall Pro Football Focus grade and a 78.9 pass-blocking grade on the right side. That overall grade ranked ninth among all SEC tackles in 2016.
Williams is working in and out of the first and second string with Jackson Carman, which Taylor confirmed would continue in the near future.
"We'll just continue to take it day-to-day at this point," Taylor said. "If we need to make a decision at some point we will but right now it's split."
Carman could end up being a swing piece across the offensive line along with La'el Collins if the Bengals end up keeping last year's right tackle on the roster for the full season.
