Cincinnati Bengals Wide Receiver Tee Higgins Defends Agent on Social Media

CINCINNATI — Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins officially requested a trade last month after the team used the franchise tag on him.

The 25-year-old is hoping to sign a long-term extension with the Bengals or with another team this offseason, but he'll likely have to play on a one-year, $21.7 million contract. The Bengals and Higgins' agent David Mulugheta have until July 15 to agree to an extension.

The team hasn't shown interest in trading Higgins, which is another reason why he'll likely stay in Cincinnati this season.

The former second round pick is just one of two players that were franchise tagged that haven't received a long-term contract from their respective teams. Seven of the nine tagged players have agreed to extensions. Bucaneers safety Antoine Winfield Jr. and Higgins are the two veterans that haven't agreed to a long-term deal.

Higgins defended his agent on Wednesday morning when a fan blamed Mulugheta for not agreeing to a long-term deal with the Bengals.

"Nah, he the best," Higgins tweeted.

The Bengals picked Higgins with the 33rd pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. He has 3,684 receiving yards and 24 touchdowns in 58 career games with the Bengals. Check out the tweet below:
