Bills Took Bijan Robinson Out to Dinner Before Texas Pro Day - Report
The Buffalo Bills reportedly showed that they have some increasing interest in drafting Texas Longhorns star running back Bijan Robinson.
Per reports from Pro Football Network, the Bills took Robinson and fellow Texas running back Roschon Johnson out to dinner on Wednesday night ahead of UT's Pro Day in Austin on Thursday.
Robinson didn't compete in drills at Pro Day, as he's sticking with his performance from the NFL Combine in Indianapolis. Johnson impressed at the combine as well, but decided to put an emphasis on offensive skill drills on Thursday rather than running the 40-yard dash again.
The Bills hold the No. 27 overall pick in April's draft and have been connected to Robinson in multiple mock drafts. Buffalo has a glaring need at running back and hasn't had a 1,000-yard rusher since 2017, making the selection of Robinson a real possibility.
However, the 2022 Doak Walker winner - which is given annually to the best running back in college football - is the kind of player that teams could be willing to take an earlier risk on in the first round despite the fact that running backs are typically not viewed as worthy of a first-round pick.
But even if the Bills miss out on Robinson, they could snag Johnson with a high-value pick in the later rounds. Bills scouts were in attendance at Thursday's Pro Day and watched as Johnson showed off his versatility.
“I honestly don't think so," Johnson said when asked if there's a running back like him in the draft class. "I mean, I can't speak for everybody. I know there's some great backs in this class. As far as my story, my versatility from a quarterback’s perspective and also playing special teams and also not being a starter … I don't know if there's another back like that.”
Clearly, the Bills are interested in this dynamic backfield duo, but it remains to be seen how things will shake up once the draft begins in Kansas City on April 27.
