Bills TE Dawson Knox Responds to Ridiculous Damar Hamlin 'Clone' Theory
Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin continues his recovery from cardiac arrest and recently spoke publicly for the first time since his on-field health scare on Jan. 2.
There was a righteous timeliness of the video Hamlin and the Bills released on Saturday, as it came at a time when the tinfoil hats were alive and well for some of the NFL fans that were over-analyzing Hamlin's appearance from the press box when Buffalo hosted the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Divisional.
Social media did what it does best, as the ridiculous idea began floating around that there was somehow a "clone" of Hamlin that was shown on the broadcast since the 24-year-old was barely visible.
But Bills tight end Dawson Knox made sure to sarcastically appear bewildered on social media as a way to take a shot at the theorists after Hamlin's video update was posted.
"Wow, kinda crazy @HamlinIsland isn’t a clone," Knox tweeted.
It's even a theory that got to as far as Bills quarterback Josh Allen, who was surprisingly asked about it on Kyle Brandt’s Basement podcast.
“That’s stupid,” Allen said. “There’s mainstream media outlets pushing this? ... People need to stop that s**t."
As Hamlin's recovery continued, it seems as if people expected a pubic message via video or press conference to come sooner from Hamlin. Instead, the timing was right, as those that truly believed in such a ridiculous theory got exposed quickly.
“Absolutely zero chance,” Allen said. “That’s the Damar Hamlin, that’s our guy, that’s our brother. He was with us pre-game, post-game, he was up in the suite with his family, his little brother. 100-percent.”
Hopefully this silliness can now be put behind a Bills team that is also looking to forget the 27-10 loss to the Bengals as the beginning stages of the offseason continue.
