In this story:
It's mid-August, meaning lingering free agents are starting to find homes as training camp winds down.
Veteran wide receivers like Deebo Samuel, Stefon Diggs and Keenan Allen have all been signed, while aging defenders like Von Miller and Trevon Diggs got new contracts too.
However, there still remains a large collection of former Buffalo Bills sitting in free agency, even after Taylor Rapp signed with the Broncos.
Among them is Tre'Davious White.

White's successful 2025 season
White played in 16 games last season, his most appearances since 2018. His injury history and age didn't stop him from having a fantastic statistical season in coverage.
According to Steven Patton, White ranked sixth among all CBs in passer rating allowed at 79.2, just behind All-Pro caliber players like Quinyon Mitchell and Christian Gonzalez. The 31-year old was even ahead of Patrick Surtain.
Furthermore, White was one of only 19 corners to allow less than one yard per snap in both man and zone coverage, joining names like Mitchell, Gonzalez, Surtain, Christian Benford and Sauce Gardner.

Why haven't Bills re-signed White?
It's a good question, and one that no one outside of One Bills Drive has the answer to.
It could be because new defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard doesn't see White as a scheme fit. It could also be because of the emergence of UDFA Kani Walker, who has exceeded expectations and is now a popular sleeper pick to make the team's 53 man roster.
Or it could be because the Bills would rather focus on developing their young pool of DBs, including Walker, Maxwell Hairston, Davison Igbinosun, and Jordan Hancock, without a veteran looking for playing time getting in the way.
Regardless of what the answer is, don't expect the Bills to give White a call unless an injury derails the CB room's trajectory for 2026.

Free Agent Market
White is one of several notable CBs still on the market, along with names like Marshon Lattimore, Kenny Moore and Adoree' Jackson.
Spotrac's market value for White is only $1.2 million, despite his stellar season, which would be slightly less than the $1.56 million contract he signed last offseason to return to Buffalo.
They say teams can always use good corners, but one is still sitting in free agency.
