Gut Reaction

Initial reports that Reynolds was getting "up to $14M" should have tipped people off that his deal would have many incentives. That's exactly what happened, as $5M of the contract is tied to incentives.

As far as the guaranteed money goes, Reynolds only has such money in 2024, while nothing is promised for 2025, making it a favorable deal for the Broncos. If Reynolds proves his worth in 2024, he has the chance to earn more money. If not, the Broncos can easily move on in 2025 without having committed a lot.

Kudos to the Broncos front office for getting this deal done. It's a good example of how to minimize risk, yet give the player an opportunity to earn more based on his play.
