Andrew Berry Provides New Information On Nick Chubb Timeline

Browns General Manager Andrew Berry spoke with the media on Tuesday and provided an update on the status of star running back Nick Chubb's recovery ahead of the 2024 season

The owner's meetings tends to provide more insight into some of the big ticket questions facing the NFL during the offseason. This year's meetins in Orlando, Florida, have provided a better understanding of NFL rule changes upcoming, a look at the thought processes with roster construction and also injury updates.

Sharing updates on Nick Chubb's recovery process is one of the most important aspects of the Browns offseason. There has been plenty of speculation about his timeline but it's been difficult to pinpoint whether he'll be back for training camp in August or even if a mid-season return is more likely.

Since injuring his knee in Week Two in Pittsburgh last season, Chubb underwent two separate surgeries. At the moment he is continuing his rehab process with the team's medical staff and head coach Kevin Stefanski mentioned on Monday that he sees Chubb every day at the practice facility.

"I'm excited for Nick," stated Stefanski. "He's doing a great job with his rehab as everybody can imagine. We'll just make sure that we continue to make decisions based on him and the medical staff. But excited about Nick."

One day after the positive update from Cleveland's head man, GM Andrew Berry was also asked about the status of the team's star running back. Despite shying away from sharing an exact timetable of when Chubb will step back on the field, Berry was able to give some insight on evaluating his status in the next few months.

"We are going to be conservative in terms of our approach in our assessment with building the roster because he is coming off of a major knee injury," Berry said. "But I do have to give him a lot of credit. He's done a really, really nice job. But I think we'll have a better sense, don't hold me to it, but I think probably if you ask me that question around the draft, I may have maybe a little bit more of a specific answer."

The NFL Draft is slated for exactly one month from now, so there should be more answers rather soon.

The good news for Browns fans is that the general consensus around Chubb's status is that he is doing well and recovering as he should. The timeline is less important than his ability to get back to full health, but it will be interesting to see what new information we have on the running back room around the draft.
