Emeka Egbuka's Injury Status Revealed With New Update After Buccaneers-Jets Practice

In this story:
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a stacked wide receivers room heading into 2026. That being said, any injury to that room would be tough for the Bucs' offense this upcoming season.
The Bucs are already dealing with some injuries among their wide receivers, as wideouts Tez Johnson (groin) and David Sills (knee), among others, have been banged up during camp. The Buccaneers potentially looked to take a serious hit to the room, though, when wideout Emeka Egbuka went down during Wednesday's practice and was attended to by trainers.
Egbuka got rolled up on during an end around and was on the trainer's table for quite a bit, and it left many wondering what his status was after trainers got a more in-depth look after practice.
As it turns out, Tampa Bay may have avoided a close call, and Egbuka looks to be mostly fine after the incident.
Emeka Egbuka's Toe Injury is 'Minor'

NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported Wednesday that Egbuka suffered a toe injury that the team considers to be "minor", paving the way for him to return to action sooner rather than later.
#Buccaneers WR Emeka Egbuka’s injury that cut his practice today is a toe issue that’s considered minor, source says. That jibes with RB Bucky Irving telling @MJD earlier during our interview, “I think he’s pretty good. He just got rolled over on.”

While the injury appears minor and Egbuka will likely miss a little bit of practice time before the regular season, toe injuries can be a bit tricky. Hopefully for Tampa Bay, Egbuka's injury doesn't take too long to heal and he can factor into the lineup for Week 1 against the Cincinnati Bengals on the road.
In the meantime, the Bucs will continue to rely on Jalen McMillan and veteran Chris Godwin in the wide receivers room. With Egbuka likely missing time, though, Tampa Bay's wideouts room remains thin — Tez Johnson, Kameron Johnson, Sills and now Egbuka are banged up, so wideout Ted Hurst will have a lot of reps to take over in the latter part of camp.
The Bucs face the New York Jets on Friday at 7 p.m. for their first preseason game of the year.
