Cardinals Reportedly Request to Interview Dave Borgonzi for Open DC Job

The Arizona Cardinals hope to fill out their vacant DC role, and a potential name to be interviewed will be Chicago Bears LB Dave Borgonzi.

The Arizona Cardinals are now assembling a staff under new head coach Jonathan Gannon, who said within the next 48 hours the team would be wheeling and dealing in the process of finding coordinators, assistants, etc.

He wasted no time at all.

While there's been a handful of names interviewing for the open offensive coordinator role, the Cardinals will also need a new defensive coordinator after releasing Vance Joseph from his contract.

One name Arizona will interview will be Chicago Bears LB coach Dave Borgonzi.

Like Breer points out in his tweet, Borgonzi and Gannon worked together in Indianapolis for three seasons when Borgonzi operated as LB coach and Gannon coached the Colts' secondary from 2018-20.

DeMarcus Covington will also reportedly be interviewed for the job.

Borgonzi got his start in the league as a defensive assistant with the Dallas Cowboys in 2011. He then briefly moved to the offensive side of the ball for Dallas in 2013 before moving to Tampa Bay to become the Buccaneers' quality control coach from 2014-17.

He spent last season with Chicago and Borgonzi's brother Mike is the director of football operations for the Kansas City Chiefs.
