Will Anderson Clear Favorite by Cardinals Fans in Mock Drafts
It's nearly time for the 2023 NFL Draft, and the Arizona Cardinals are one of the biggest wild cards in all of the draft thanks to their position with the No. 3 pick.
With quarterbacks expected to go No. 1 and No. 2, the Cardinals hold the keys to draft some of the top elite non-quarterback talent with their pick.
Arizona is heavily expected to trade down with a team looking to draft their next quarterback, and with the Cardinals having plenty of holes on the roster as they enter a rebuild, it makes too much sense for the organization to capitalize on the potential draft capital they could acquire for their pick.
However, key figures such as head coach Jonathan Gannon have said that the team is prepared to stick around and draft a player if need be.
Who would that player be? It's an obvious choice, at least for fans doing mock drafts on Pro Football Focus.
Cardinals Fans Select Will Anderson Most in Mock Drafts
PFF recently released data that showed the top selections for each team's fan base in their mock draft simulator.
For the Cardinals, Alabama Crimson Tide edge rusher Will Anderson is the overwhelming favorite by Cardinals fans, with a whopping 65% of all fans selecting him with the No. 3 pick.
Texas Tech edge rusher Tyree Wilson was next with 7.3% of picks.
"If the Cardinals don’t trade back, Arizona fans overwhelmingly want Alabama's Will Anderson Jr. to help solidify the team's defensive line. Last season, the Cardinals ranked in the bottom third of the league in sacks and pass-rushing grade. During Anderson’s career at Alabama, no other player in college football recorded more pressures than him, making him a perfect fit in Arizona," said Zach Tantillo.
Anderson's 65% pick rate is the highest out of any team in the league when it comes to mock drafts, beating out the Carolina Panthers at No. 1 with C.J. Stroud's 59.6%. He is also a popular selection for fans of the Seattle Seahawks and Detroit Lions, who pick at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.
