Former Arizona Cardinals WR DeAndre Hopkins is now free to sign with whomever the All-Pro receiver deems worthy enough to tout his services following his release from the desert.

It's been a long offseason for Hopkins, who has seemingly been involved in rumors and headlines since the very beginning. The Cardinals tried their best to trade him, but ultimately knew a split was best for both sides.

Now, the 31-year-old receiver has his picking of options - and there's no shortage of interested teams.

One of the hottest teams plugged with Hopkins are the Buffalo Bills, who feel as if they're just one piece away from finally getting to a Super Bowl with their talented squad. The Kansas City Chiefs are thought to be on the same level in terms of interest.

We've seen other potential squads such as the New England Patriots, Baltimore Ravens and New York Jets thrown around, but a surprise team has entered the mix.

The Houston Texans weren't exactly the first team many pegged Hopkins to land with, especially considering his Super Bowl aspirations.

However, The Houston Chronicle's Brooks Kubena is reporting that Hopkins is very much interested in a reunion with his former team.

"Hopkins, who was a three-time All-Pro while playing for the Texans, is interested in re-joining his former team, a person with knowledge of the situation said. Hopkins is gauging multiple teams as a free agent, and those include the franchise that once traded him," Kubena wrote.

"But he spent seven seasons with the Texans after they made him their 2013 first-round pick, and he still has family living in Houston."

One major obstacle for Hopkins has been money: Teams simply didn't want to take on his $19.45 million in salary for 2023 when engaging in trade talks. He's reportedly looking for another payday and has even hired outside help (he's negotiated deals by himself previously) to ensure he gets every penny possible.

The Texans have about $16.8 million in cap space according to OverTheCap. They added key rookies in Will Anderson Jr. and CJ Stroud in the top three picks of the 2023 NFL Draft, and hope to turn the tide of the franchise with new head coach DeMeco Ryans.

Hopkins could be a piece to that puzzle.
