Cardinals HC Jonathan Gannon Gives Update on Kyler Murray

In this story:
The Arizona Cardinals are preparing for their season opener against the Washington Commanders later this week without the services of quarterback Kyler Murray.
Murray tore his ACL and meniscus in Week 14 of last season and was left on the PUP list after the Cardinals concluded their preseason, ensuring the Heisman winner will sit out at least the first four weeks of the year.
There's been loads of speculation when it comes to Murray and what Arizona plans to do with him for 2023 and beyond. Some have suggested the Cardinals - currently in the beginning stages of a rebuild - will keep him off the field and protect Murray from further injury, potentially preserving his trade value in the process.
Arizona head coach Jonathan Gannon has been adamant Murray is their guy moving forward, and on his appearance with Burns and Gambo, Gannon shot down recent rumors with a short and sweet answer when asked if he expects Murray will play at some point:
"Yes, I do."
Murray was named one of six captains alongside Dennis Gardeck, Kyzir White, Budda Baker, James Conner and D.J. Humphries.
When asked how Murray was progressing, Gannon said:
"I'm not a doctor so the timetable and stuff, I don't know about all of that. I know this: He progresses every day. He's getting a little better every day. That's not to say there's not good days and bad days going through that type of injury because he definitely has those. He has been all in. He's gotta balance the health part of it, the football part of it, being a great teammate which he's done a fantastic job of helping other guys being very present in meetings, on the practice field. This guy is doing a great job, I'm excited for him. He's progressing every day. Every day he makes a little jump in his health and that's good to see because he's made a lot of sacrifices since I've known him to get to the point he's at right now."
