J.J. Watt Tweets Hilarious Response to Tom Brady Filing Retirement Paperwork

Former Arizona Cardinals DE J.J. Watt says he's not filling out the retirement paperwork alongside his friend Tom Brady.

PHOENIX -- Arizona Cardinals DE J.J. Watt isn't playing in Super Bowl LVII.

He's also not filing the proper paperwork to retire.

Watt announced his intentions to step away from the game two weeks prior to the conclusion of the regular season. His goodbye was quite emotional from start to finish, and he leaves a legacy that will hard be hard to follow by 99.99% of players who are fortunate enough to make it into the league.

Watt will go into the Pro Football Hall of Fame upon first eligibility five years down the road, and so will his good friend Tom Brady, who also is retiring after 2022.

Brady filled out the proper paperwork to retire from the league. Watt isn't super keen on following in those footsteps.

Filling out the paperwork to "officially" retire isn't something that's necessary: Just ask former Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald, who has been "unofficially" retired for two seasons now.

Eligibility for the Hall of Fame doesn't use "official" retirement, just five seasons after the player's last season.

Watt has been fairly active on Twitter during this offseason, so it looks like his days of playing on the internet have just begun while his days playing on the field are over.
