Isaiah Simmons Says Cardinals Were 'Too Relaxed' in 2022

Arizona Cardinals LB Isaiah Simmons talked about previous coach Kliff Kingsbury and how the team was too relaxed last season.

PHOENIX -- Arizona Cardinals LB Isaiah Simmons is just like the rest of us in waiting for his team's next head coach.

Kliff Kingsbury is far removed from the Cardinals, perhaps a good thing when reflecting back to the 4-13 season Arizona went through.

Simmons appeared on the set of NBC's Pro Football Talk with Chris Simms and Mike Florio and said the Cardinals were a little too relaxed last season, speaking to the nature of Kingsbury's laid back personality.

"In training camp you could tell at times it was a little too relaxed. And training camp, that's really when you find a lot out about your team. At times I felt a lot of that carried over into the season with people maybe being too relaxed or taking advantage of the culture … Just a higher sense of urgency [is needed moving forward], that would be the best way I can say it," said Simmons.

"Just my time in the NFL, has been my first time with a coach of that structure. And I don't think it's a bad thing. I really think it just depends on what kind of professional you are."

Simmons also said he was told the coaching search would take about two weeks after the firing of Kingsbury - which obviously hasn't been the case.
