Cardinals One of Least Valuable NFL Franchises

The Arizona Cardinals are undergoing a massive culture shift within the organization, one that will hopefully lead to better and brighter days ahead.

Aside from a few seasons containing a postseason appearance, the Cardinals haven't seen much success since moving to Phoenix in 1988. Since 2008, they've had just five playoff appearances.

Arizona hopes the ship can turn around, both on the field and in terms of value - the Cardinals are ranked as the No. 27 most valuable team in the NFL according to Sportico with a valuation of $4.17 billion.

The team did however climb one spot in the rankings from 2022 despite the 4-13 season. They were one of ten teams to see 30% more growth from last season.

The Dallas Cowboys are the clear-cut most valuable squad with $9.2 billion in value, a full $2 billion over the next team in the New York Giants ($7.04 billion).

"There are still plenty of teams in the NBA, NHL and MLB that lose money. Almost every MLS team runs a deficit," said Sportico.

"In the NFL, it is impossible to be in the red. National revenue from media and sponsorship partners was $12 billion last year, or 64% of the league’s $17.8 billion in total revenue. It meant each team received nearly $375 million before selling a ticket, beer or local sponsorship; it will approach $400 million this season."

Recent success doesn't translate to improved value. Two recent Super Bowl contending teams in the Buffalo Bills ($4.13 billion) and Cincinnati Bengals ($4 billion) are below the Cardinals.
