After a disappointing campaign relative to expectations for LA last season, some in league circles believe this is a make-or-break season for many in the organization.

At least one executive thinks Bolts' head coach Brandon Staley has no more excuses to keep his job should he falter this year in winning a playoff game with the Chargers.

"The Chargers would be a situation to watch. They're cheap, so I don't think they want to actually fire him, and he's a really nice guy. But, Brandon Staley is a really bad coach with a great roster. They just paid that quarterback, and if they don't win now, Justin Herbert isn't getting any younger. It blows my mind that they don't win. If Jerry Jones had Justin Herbert, that head coach would have been fired two years ago. Guaranteed. What's the difference between Herbert and Troy Aikman? Nothing, in my opinion. They're smart, accurate, big arm, great guys and leaders off the field. They should be rolling, but they haven't been."

While many Angelinos and surely the Charger front office are thinking about the franchise's future, there was already speculation calling for Staley's head in the offseason.

The replacement for Staley would've been Sean Payton from his previous stop in New Orleans after the former Saints' long-time head coach took some time away from the sidelines after the 2021 season.

Staley and his roster have much to prove in the eyes of this executive and many others in the league, but early returns on camp signify that this is a different Charger team than years prior.

A new fiery edge and a bitter taste from their postseason loss last year in Jacksonville have been on the minds of LA all season long, a wrong they want to turn right with the 2023 campaign fast approaching.
