Chargers News: Bolts Reveal Training Staff, Confirm Ben Herbert Hire

The Chargers have officially revealed their training staff for the 2024 season.

New Los Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh and general manager Joe Hortiz have been plenty busy hiring their new coaching staff. They have also put together a new training staff that will get players ready for the 2024 season.

Much like Jesse Minter, Harbuagh also brought over another Michigan staffer to help build out this Chargers team.

During his introductory press conference, Harbaugh confirmed that a deal was being worked out to bring over Michigan director of strength and conditioning, Ben Herbert.

Herbert's hire has now been confirmed, and he is joined by a host of names.

Former NFL player and current analyst J.J. Watt spoke on the Pat McAfee show about just how important the Herbert hire is.

According to Watt, "One of the underrated things about that move that I think is going to play a big role that people might never even hear about or know about but will play a massive role if they are going to be successful in Los Angeles and that is the hiring of Ben Herbert as their strength coach."

Herbert clearly knows what he is doing in terms of getting player's bodies right.

Joining Herbert is Jonathan Brooks as head strength and conditioning, Devin Woodhouse as head strength and conditioning, Ben Rabe as director of performance analystics, and Lincoln DeWolf as performacne analyst.

A strong strength and conditioning team is just as imporant as a good coaching staff. Harbaugh is makiung sure the tough culture he is instilling will also be coupled with the right staff to prevent injuries from happening.

Injuries were a huge aspect of the Chargers issues in the 2023 season, and the new training staff will ensure this does not happen again.
